Singapore and the US are both important focus markets for the Try Swedish Export Programme.
About the markets
Singapore
Singapore is often described as the gateway to Asia. Singaporeans love food and in Singapore there are influences from all over the world, represented both in restaurants and in the grocery stores. Singapore's strategic location and the fact that English is used as the official language make it easy for exporting companies to make business in Singapore. The fact that Singapore is importing 90% of their food and are the fifth largest importer of European F&B makes it an attractive export market many consider.
USA
The US is a critical market for Swedish food companies, as it has the largest economy in the world with a GDP of 21,5 Trillion USD. The US currently showcases an increasing interest in plant-based, clean label and natural products as well as a shift to E-commerce, just to name a few of the trends in the food & beverage sector. Consumers and retailers are actively looking for healthier alternatives such as clean labels, functional food, immune boosting food, and new innovations. Swedish brands can cater to these demands and have a great reputation in the US as well. "Swedishness" is connected with innovative, good-for-you & high-quality products in the eye of the US consumer.
